John Hall Founder & Chair
John is a Chartered Accountant and experienced business leader who, as a Business Angel, has a proven track record of taking technology innovations to market by building collaborative networks composed of innovators and entrepreneurs. John leads our investor relations along with strategy, finance & governance.
Mike Highley Founder & CEO
Mike is an R&D professional with thirty years' experience in pet food innovation. Mike has amassed a wealth of knowledge on Biochar and its capabilities and has developed a clear roadmap of sequential product executions which we will bring to market.
Mike leads all aspects of our R & D and product development and, with his geology background and pet food processing experience, leads on liaison with our collaboration and supply chain partners.
Nigel Douglas Non-Executive Investors’ Director
Nigel is a seasoned entrepreneur with a deep commitment to environmental sustainability. He has extensive experience in time-series satellite analytics of above-ground biomass and soil organic content. As the director of Scotland’s largest environmental charity, Nigel drives impactful initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
Collaboration partners
Our principal partner is the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh, a pre-eminent U.K. academic institute for the study of Biochar and its effects in soils.
Dr Saran Sohi
Saran is Senior Lecturer at the School of Geosciences where he leads the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems. He heads an inter-disciplinary group developing Biochar as a response to climate change with ancillary benefits. Dr Sohi is an internationally recognised expert in the Biochar field with a strong publication and citation record.
Dr Simon Shackley
Simon is Director of Postgraduate teaching in the School of Geosciences as well as Program Director for MSc Carbon Management. He is a reader in Climate Policy with a focus on decarbonisation of the energy system, including innovation, policy, institutional change, dialogue and values. He works on the social aspects of Biochar, CCS and carbon removal projects.
Bill Wreathall
Arable Farming Consultant
Bill runs a traditional 400 acres arable farm in East Yorkshire focussing on Wheat, Oil Seed Rape, Barley and Peas. He brings generational real-world experience of traditional Agronomy, an extensive farming network and assists with hectare-scale field studies.
